World Championships in Athletics

International Association of Athletics Federations or (IAAF) organized the World Championship in Athletics.

The first World Championships proper were held in 1983. This event held every 4 years and this changed in 1991 and currently event is now held every 2. This event will for the first time be take place outside of New Zealand and Europe and it is very proud for host country for opportunity to host the world's second biggest sports event for athletes.

2011 World Championships in Athletics
In 2011 it's Daegu's turn to host the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. After Berlin in 2009 and Daegu in South Korea in 2011.

the big event moves to Moscow in 2013. Daegu is a main transportation hub for the country with its convenient transportation networks connecting to each city in Korea within two hours.

Seven expressways, the high speed Korean Express Train, an international airport, and an hour's drive to the harbour makes Daegu an beautiful major transportation center. The symbol of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 was already launched on 27 July 2009 and it features the new IAAF competition logo and the LOC's local element. It is an ideal combination of the Oriental Yin-Yang philosophy and represents the harmony among East and West.This occasion will comprise track and field events for athletes with a disability such as amputees, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and the visually impaired.

The occasion will be staged at the QEII Stadium and a second provisional training track will be in place for the championships.
